Looking for new Kindle Unlimited authors to read, but don’t know where to start? Well, here are a few of our favourites and some of the best on the app today! Keep on scrolling for more details and find yourself a new book boyfriend ;).
We love our Kindle Unlimited, but sometimes we hit some duds when we start browsing outside of our ride or die author list. Has this happened to you too? If so, we’ve put together a complete guide to some of our favourite authors (and a few of their best reads) that we can’t recommend enough.
Let’s get a little personal here for a second…
Growing up, books were always my escape from the real world. A better “reality” if that makes sense. Personally, I fell in love with reading. Characters became some of my closest friends and family. The stories within novels gave me a sense of purpose, when the real world became too much or too boring, a novel picked up my spirits and gave me a place to belong. That’s why reading itself is so very important to me.
Kindle Unlimited (this is NOT a sponsored post by the way) did truthfully save me. Now that seems a bit much, don’t you think? Saying Kindle Unlimited saved me seems completely dramatic! But… it did. I love to read, but reading is EXPENSIVE! Spending $15 to $30 on a single book isn’t realistic. It’s hard to justify buying a book at that price when also trying to save up for a house, pay your rent, chip away at student debt, or even buy groceries. It’s not sustainable when you’re trying to clothe your kids or save some money in your emergency fund.
That’s why I stopped reading for quite some time (especially with the rate I was finishing books at). That is, until I discovered Kindle Unlimited. A monthly online subscription that allows you to rent unlimited novels for a set price. Although it doesn’t have every single author or book in the world available on their app, it does have a vast amount of excellent options! And their inventory keeps growing, as self publishing is becoming more prominent.
OK, back to the important stuff…
We should probably preface that this list is more for the die-hard romantics. The readers that love a story with a good amount of lovey-dovey, ooey-gooey, speaks to your soul type of storyline. You’ll definitely come across a few biker bad boys, underworld rulers, professional hockey players and footballers, and country living good-boys. So, if you’re not a romance-loving-reader, then this list is probably not the one for you.
PLEASE NOTE!!! This list is in no particular order. We personally don’t currently have a favourite author and do believe all writers are different and amazing in their own right. We love number 21 just as much as we do number 1!
This post features the best Kindle Unlimited Authors we are currently obsessing over.
Must-Read Kindle Unlimited Authors
1. Aly Martinez
There isn’t a book or series we haven’t completely fallen in love with by Aly Martinez. She honestly knows how to tell a story. The twists, the turns, and the shock we endure while reading each and every novel by her… lets just say she throws us through an emotional loop every time! We just finished her latest series, the Difference Trilogy and let us just say, damn! That was such an intriguing and beautifully written book saga. As we are still obsessing over Remi & Bowen, we might just have to re-read it again. Check out some of her other book series, such as The Fall Up Series, Wrecked and Ruined Series, and more!

There is seriously just too much to say about this author and no where near enough words. Truthfully, there isn’t a single way of doing her work justice! Jewel E. Ann has a wide range of stories, all different, but all as equally captivating. Her stories and characters are beautifully complex and cannot be matched by any other author. We suggest checking out her work yourself to understand why we are so obsessed, because there is simply no possible way of explaining how transcending her stories are. Some of her novels include: When Life Happens (which had us crying for hours), The Transcend Duet and more!

10. Tijan
Tijan knows how to reel us in! Between the storylines and the characters, there’s just too much to talk about. We don’t know where to even begin raving about the writing, and trust us, we plan to rave about it. Unfortunately, not all of Tijan’s books are available on the Kindle Unlimited program, but a few are. We love Enemies and Teardrop Shot. And, if you get hooked like we did, you’ll fall in love with the Fallen Crest Series.

11. Meghan Quinn
Meghan Quinn is a versatile author through and through. She has so many different story lines available, you are just bound to fall in love with at least one of them (but probably all). We personally loved The Change Up and The Other Brother. Such an amazing storyteller! We always come back for more.
12. Karla Sorensen
Is love a strong enough word to describe our feelings for Karla Sorensen?? Probably not to be honest. She kills the writing game, a true artist if we do say so ourselves. The Washington Wolves Series was our first encounter with a book by Sorensen and we have been begging for more ever since! Definitely a must-read author!
13. Max Monroe
So many good novels, we couldn’t wait to add Max Monroe to our list. Fun, flirty, upbeat romances that always put a smile on our face. From the Billionaire Collection to standalone’s like The Pact, Max Monroe hits a home run on light romances every time.
14. Molly McAdams
We love Molly McAdams. TRULY WE DO. From the Brewed Series to several compelling standalone’s, McAdams leaves her readers stunned and craving more every single time. We surely are!
15. J.T Geissinger
I don’t even know where to start with this one! J.T Geissinger honestly kills the writing game, seriously. We highly recommend starting off with her Queen & Monsters Series first, because boy-oh-boy you’re in for an absolute treat. A few words to describe the series? Steamy. Bad-Boy Heaven. Mysterious. Intriguing…. we could go on, but just go and read it already. It’s drool worthy.
16. Colleen Hoover
This author has been everywhere we look lately! Colleen Hoover has gotten some well deserved hype recently and that’s actually how we came across her work. If it wasn’t for a fellow Instagrammer, we would never have discovered her beautiful novels. Only a few of her books appear in the Kindle Unlimited Program, but what is available does rotate now and again. The first book we read by her was Verity and we were obviously hooked.
17. R.S Grey
If you are die-hard fan of meet-cutes, then R.S Grey has a ton of different titles for you. Try out King Of The Court, Trouble With Quarterbacks, and To Have And To Hate for your first reads. Grey seriously knows how to make readers fall in love with characters.
18. A.L. Jackson
A.L Jackson is actually one of the first authors we came across on the app and we’ve been utterly obsessed with her ever since. We are up-to-date with every notification and new release she puts out. There are SO many titles we would recommend, but if we had to pick one, then we suggest starting with the Bleeding Stars Series. She emotionally destroys (and most definitely repairs) our hearts with every book she comes out with. Worthy to be on the best kindle unlimited authors list hands down!
19. Elizabeth O’Roark
Can we confess our love to an author? If so, we definitely have fallen in love with Elizabeth O’Roark, her characters, and their stories. She has masterfully created SO MANY good storylines. Do you know that good book feeling? Like when you think about a book for a couple of days or weeks after and the characters just stick with you? That’s exactly what to expect before reading one of Elizabeth O’Roark’s novels. We have her characters on our minds for weeks afterwards. Check out The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea and The Deal With The Devil. You won’t regret it!
20. L.M. Halloran
The first novel we read by L.M. Halloran was The Art of Sin, and we are so happy we did because we were hooked right after the first chapter. Check out her work for more insanely addicting storylines!
21. Jessica Prince
Jessica Prince has multiple amazing titles and series…. you just have to start reading ASAP. From her Whiskey Dolls Series to the Redemption Series, we cannot get enough of her work. Seriously, we highly recommend it! We cannot wait for her next release.
BONUS: J.L. Drake
Okay, so I originally included J.L. Drake in the list, but I hadn’t realized not all of her books are included in the Unlimited monthly membership. They originally were, but now only a few remain. This is extremely sad to see because we absolutely love her work. We’ve included a little bit about her down below, because we do feel her series and stand-alone’s are totally worth it! Does she deserve to be on the best kindle unlimited authors list!? Duh!
The amount of love we have for this author… we are still reeling over her Devil’s Reach Series many of years later!! J.L. Drake was actually one of the very first authors we came across on Kindle Unlimited, and truthfully, she’s one of the biggest reasons we kept our membership month after month. From motorcycle bad boys (turned big fuzzy teddy-bears) to top-secret U.S. Special Forces soldiers, J.L. Drake has us wanting more every. single. time. From her series like the Broken Trilogy to her standalone’s life Behind My Words, we are absolutely captivated by her time after time.
Should we do another list? There are so many more amazing authors out there that we couldn’t fit in! It almost feels wrong not to include the rest or have another feature written up. Let us know in the comments down below 🙂
