Best Kindle Unlimited Romance Novels of 2023, SO far
1. Not My Kind Of Hero, Pippa Grant
From USA Today bestselling author Pippa Grant comes a rollicking romantic comedy about a single mom and a grumpy math teacher tackling their differences on a Wyoming ranch.
Pippa Grant always writes so magnificently, that I’m always left craving more. Maisey and Flint don’t get off on the right foot and this tension takes place throughout the novel. Flint despises Maisey and everything about her, but Maisey doesn’t give up on living in Hell’s Bells, regardless of who tries to run her out of town. Their romantic story is definitely a slow, torturous burn, but it’s apparent right from the beginning and oh, sooooo good! The character growth alone steals the show. Pick up Not My Kind of Hero by Pippa Grant if you want a perfectly written fun, emotional, slow-burn romance with a brooding hero and easily loved heroine!
2. Calamity Montana, Devney Perry
A small town, forced proximity, age gap romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, Devney Perry.
I couldn’t just pick one novel from this series, so we’re giving it all a huge shoutout! First, I read it out-of-order and fell in absolute LOVE with The Brood (novel #6 from the series). Every book in this series hooks you right in and has you wanting to pack up and move to Calamity, Montana as soon as you can. From Lucy and Duke to Iris and Wilder, the steam just keeps getting hotter and hotter as you go. Every novel in the series was a home run in the romance department, so if you’re looking for a new series to start, trust us and pick up the first book The Bribe ASAP!
3. The Summer I Saved You, Elizabeth O’Roark
From the moment I first saw Caleb, I knew he belonged to me. And I knew I’d have to save him—because how else does the girl nobody wants to win over the boy beloved by all?
Elizabeth O’Roark always knows how to spin a good story! Her books always have an extra layer of depth to them, we cannot wait for the next release. Book #2 in The Summer Series follows Lucie and Caleb, a single mom running from her narcissistic soon-to-be-ex and her first love, the boy who lives next door. After trying to pick up her life and start over, Lucie moves right next door to the man she’s always loved, Caleb, also known as her new boss. This grumpy x sunshine novel features second chances at love and life. Lucie and Caleb’s story is definitely one you won’t want to put down, I have equally fallen in love with both characters for their own rights. We can’t wait for the next book in the series, featuring Beck and Kate. The Summer I Saved You by Elizabeth O’Roark should be on everyone’s next-to-read list!
4. You Or Someone Like You, Winter Renshaw
From Wall Street Journal and #1, Amazon bestselling author Winter Renshaw comes a fast-paced, emotional romance about what happens when the wrong twin falls for the right man.
Oh my, this one got us. Winter Renshaw, you absolutely master every story you write. I couldn’t put this down! I was sucked right in and started and finished it within a day. As an identical twin, Sloane always felt like it was her duty to save and help her sister whenever she could, regardless of the consequences. Enter her current situation, Margeaux needs her twin sister to date her boss’s nephew. Roman Bellisaro isn’t just any man. He’s complex, he’s blunt, he’s sexy, and he’s a widowed dad. Little does Sloane realize, after a bad first date, they’re irrevocably drawn to one another. Through a rollercoaster ride of emotions, it’s apparent that Roman and Sloane are most definitely meant for one another. Their love story is one for the ages, absolutely beautiful and a need-to-be-read novel. Definitely don’t skip out on reading You Or Someone Like You by Winter Renshaw.
5. Silenced: The Forgotten Boys, Serena Akeroyd
A standalone, Hades and Persephone modern-day retelling.
Mafia lovers, please listen up!!! If you love everything mafia-related, you’re going to love this captive romance. Nikolai and Cassie have such a strong, beautiful bond. He saves her when she’s left chained in a motel room by her ex-husband and he becomes instantly captivated by her. Nikolai, “Mute”, and Cassie’s love story develop beautifully throughout the novel. He is her safety and she brings the hot-blooded Russian out of his shell. It was great to see the Russian Bratva side of Serena Akeroyd’s series and there are noticeable overlaps between The Five Points and the Sinner’s world. Love, love, love! Can’t wait for the next book in this series. Silenced The Forgotten Boys by Serena Akeroyd starts the series off on an epic note, bring on Dmitri, Misha, and Maxim’s stories!
6. Jagger Cole: EVERY BOOK
Jagger Cole has mastered the mafia romance game. There hasn’t been one book we aren’t swooning over! We dove right in and read every book under the Jagger Cole sun. So, If you’re wondering where to start, we suggest starting with Deviant Hearts: A Dark Enemies To Lovers Mafia Romance. This begins the series between the Irish, Greek and Russian Mafia. Think arranged marriage, enemies to lovers. To stop the war, Neve must marry her sworn enemy Ares Drakos *SWOON*. He is truly a God, and rightfully named after one. This book is angsty, it’s brooding, it’s territorial, it’s deliciously deviant. A match made perfectly in hell. It starts off the series with a bang, and you can guarantee you’ll be craving more. In this book, there are love matches between characters to follow. Elish, Cillian, Hades, Castle, Callie, etc. You don’t want to miss these!
7. Reckless, Elsie Silver
Theo Silva. Rowdy bull rider. Notorious ladies’ man. Scorching hot trouble wrapped up in a drool-worthy package. And he’s looking at me like I might be his next meal. But I’m almost free of my toxic marriage and have sworn off men entirely. So all I see when I look back is temptation served up with a heaping side of heartbreak.
We were waiting for Winter’s story!!! Not so patiently too. After reading about her in Savannah and Willa’s novels, we knew there must be more to this cold-as-ice sister, but we didn’t want to write off her icy behaviour and not wonder what was in store for her. We fell in love with Winter and her story right off the bat. She was so misunderstood and relatable. Luckily, Theo was just what she needed, someone who chose her and fought to lift her up. The story of them was so perfect, the untamed ladies’ man with the ice princess. If you love: a failed one-night stand, accidental pregnancy, opposites attract, forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine novel… then buckle up and snag Reckless by Elsie Silver!
8. Pick Six, Maggie Rawdon
What’s worse than playing a fake girlfriend to the all-pro defensive end for the Seattle Phantom? When the same infamous playboy is my ex-husband’s best friend.
There’s so much I can say about Alex and Harper, we don’t even know where to start. Not exactly enemies, but there’s definitely this tension there that you can just sense the minute you open the book. A pair that should’ve been, but never was. We LOVED how both Alex and Harper wished they were with one another, but felt it was forbidden to do so. Their story unravels perfectly, and we loved every second of it. If you love sports romances, fake dating, good banter, and ex-husband-best-friend-drama then you need to snag this ASAP! Pick Six by Maggie Rawdon was one we couldn’t put down. Alex picked up Harper’s pieces and gave her the love she deserved.
9. Liars Like Us, J.T Geissinger
A young woman on the verge of bankruptcy. A mysterious billionaire with an offer that will change her life. An obsession so powerful, that it could destroy them both. Sex. Lies. Secrets. Passion What Callum McCord wants, he takes. No matter what he has to do to get it.
J.T. Geissinger is hands down one of my favourite authors from Kindle Unlimited. The Morally Gray Series is definitely going to be one to look out for. This series links with Geissinger’s Beautifully Cruel series and we loved getting to see Killian Black again. Billionaire romance? Check. Possessive alpha male? Check. Fake marriage? Check. Man falls first? Check. Opposites attract? Check. The banter between Emery and Callum is the perfect amount, Emery is determined and driven. Her character is the perfect balance to Callum’s possessiveness. Trigger warning, this novel does involve obsessive and possessive behaviour, which might not be everyone’s cup of tea. But Liars Like Us by J.T. Geissinger is a book that COULD change your mind on that, so if you’re on the fence or toeing the line… just pick it up already!
10. Hockey With Benefits, TIJAN
Hockey with benefits. That was what Mara proposed, and I was down. She said no feelings and she meant it. Just benefits. No strings attached. Nothing else. Not even friendship. College was her escape, including us.
A Fallen Crest spinoff from Rich Pr*ck, honestly one of my favourites!! I LOVE Tijan and The Fallen Crest Series. To see Mara get her own book was a good surprise. Mara and Cruz’s romance is a messy one. They had one rule: no personal questions. No attachments. But obviously, that flies out the window as their relationship is a complex one. Feelings are apparent, and the bond between them is strong. I loved both characters, their development, and their complexity. Tijan hit it out of the park again! I’m tempted to go back and re-read it once again since I loved it that much! Hockey With Benefits was beautifully written by Tijan, the underlying storylines, emotional and psychological warfare, and character growth steal THE show.
11. Defensive Hearts, Alley Ciz
Looking for Kindle Unlimited romance novels or a series to stock up on your Kindle? Well, Alley Ciz and her BTU alumni series are one we wait *patiently* for the next release and the story between Gemma and Chance has been building for ages now! The Covenettes! Yes! We love how intertwined her characters become, each story just as good as the last. A woman he wanted at first sight, Gemma is something Chance cannot get off his mind, especially since she works for him- much to his dismay. A mistaken first encounter leads these two to a hate-hate relationship. A sunshine x grumpy novel with lots of heated looks and conflict on both parts. This bad boy wants what he knows he shouldn’t and as things start to unravel, they realize they’re both in deeper than they thought. Do read if you love forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, possessive alphahole, slow-burn, romcom, and hockey romances. Defensive Hearts by Alley Ciz isn’t a book you pass up! But it is #7 in the series and we HIGHLY recommend reading ALL of the other books first, every story has an impression and intertwines with one another.
12. Right Man, Right Time, Meghan Quinn
From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn, comes a new fake dating, standalone sports romance featuring the hockey men you can’t get enough of. This steamy, age-gap romantic comedy will bring all the laughs while making your cheeks blush at the same time.
This fake relationship definitely had us in our feeeeels. We love a good professional hockey player with a college girl trope, we mean, that’s all anyone’s ever wanted in their life right? Meghan Quinn is a talented writer, the way she creates her characters is pure perfection. This book ties into other books revolving around the Vancouver Agitators and we’re thrilled Silas Taters finally got his own love story. Ollie, the heroine, is strong, witty, sassy, and funny, exactly what we want in a female lead. She and Silas had such good banter, the tension was definitely there. We loved loved loved Ollie and Silas. Definitely give Right Man Right Time by Meghan Quinn a read!
Let us know what we should read next in the comments below! As mentioned above, we have 3 months left of 2023 and have a goal of finishing another 20 books. If we missed any of the good ones, tell us what to add to our next-to-read list!
