We cannot believe this year is already coming to an end, it feels like 2021 just flew right on by! There’s something about this year that makes us want to get more in tune with our goals and aspirations. We don’t know about you, but there is just something about that “new” year feeling that has us craving to get back on track. Unfortunately, 2021 was NOT a year for progress. I think we took a lot of time to just “heal” from the pandemic. We didn’t push ourselves, we didn’t get mad when things didn’t work out, and we didn’t try as hard as we could’ve. Actually, we took everything day by day, and really didn’t try to reach for any stars.
However, this new year is something we plan to flourish within. Our goals are bigger and brighter than ever before and we feel the downtime we allowed ourselves will help excel us forward! BUT, we do not plan to OVER exert ourselves into failure. There are a few major tips we HIGHLY recommend following to not let your new years resolutions flop like the previous years. If you’ve experienced failure in the past, or are just looking for a foolproof plan to conquering this upcoming year, listen up! We list all of the best ways to keep you on track and make the best out of this fresh start.
This post focuses on ways to help you actually stick to your New Year’s Resolution.
8 New Years Resolution Tips You Actually Need
1. Don’t Overbook!
It’s extremely important you don’t overbook yourself this upcoming year! Don’t try to accomplish a million major things. We suggest starting small, this includes smaller accomplishments while also focusing on smaller amounts of accomplishments. Overbooking will force yourself to focus on too many things all at once, which typically leads to failure. Try limiting yourself to a few things you want to accomplish and focus solely on them!
Focusing on only a few things will allow you to not feel overwhelmed by the tasks at hand! Whenever you try to do too much, it’s normal to give up because of the stress and pressure. Remember, start small! Grow from there.
2. Focus on Realistic Goals
Sometimes we feel like we can conquer the world (and we should! We strongly believe you can do everything you put your mind to. However, we always suggest setting milestone goals for your new year resolution list, while focusing major goals in a 5 to 10 year timeframe. Remember, small accomplishments are still major ones. Rome wasn’t built in a day! Neither is a brand new company or a body transformation. You need to think realistically within the year timeframe you have and what can you actually complete within it.
3. Use Your Calendar
Something we find that really works? Marking down your new years resolution in your daily calendar! Whether your goal is to wake up and do yoga every morning, learn a new language, or build your own brand- we always suggest scheduling it! We swear by this one. Whenever something is in our calendar, we feel more motivated to complete it! Whether it’s google calendars, your phone calendar, or even that cute-as-hell puppy themed one above your desk, we suggest taking advantage of it and marking it up with everything you plan to achieve that day/week!

4. Set Milestone Motivators
We all need some motivation from time to time. We know we work WAY harder when there is something set up to celebrate a milestone we have accomplished. So why not do it for your new year goals? Complete 30 days of clean eating? Spoil yourself! Lose that inch in your waist? Celebrate it! Don’t forget that every step forwards towards your end goal is an accomplishment. It is important to celebrate every little thing you do. Big things are comprised of a million small ones, so reward yourself when you accomplish something- no matter how tiny it may seem. In the grand scheme of things, that little thing matters way more than you think!
5. Learn From Past Mistakes
If you tried and failed before (or several times) try to think of a better way to accomplish your goals this time around. For example, if you tried to hit the gym for workouts last year, but couldn’t get there, switch to at-home workouts! Or contact a personal trainer. Try to accomplish your resolutions using a different route! Sometimes a change of scenery, change of pattern, or new execution plan can make a big difference in the outcome.
6. Eliminate Things That Restrict Your Success
We all have them, the things that make it impossible to actually complete and succeed at a task. I personally know if I have ice cream in the house… my clean eating plan is OUT the window. However, it doesn’t always have to be a specific physical thing! It all depends on the goal at hand. Remember, toxic people and environments can also prevent you from being the best you. Eliminate everything that prevents you from accomplishing all that you set out to do! We promise, a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual cleanse is totally warranted when it restricts you from doing all that you’re capable of! Get rid of the people and things that limit your abilities, it’s okay to put yourself first.
7. Keep On Dreaming On
Remember, your dreams are what keeps you going! Don’t let yourself forget how important what you want in life is. It’s okay to dream big, it’s exactly the drive you need to become successful and actually accomplish what you hope to. Let yourself dream and let your dreams be out of this world. You’ve got this!
8. Don’t Give Up
Sometimes life hits us harder than we planned. Believe us, we’ve all been there! The amount of times we have started and quit a new workout regime or talked ourselves out of starting this blog.. listen, we’ve given up more times than we can count. It’s important to try to stay on track with your progress, just try to take it all day by day. Don’t push yourself too hard, don’t fill up every hour and don’t reach for goals too high. If you need a day or week off, take it! Just don’t give up. Work hard even when you don’t feel like it, you will be thankful you did in the end.
Remember, goal getting is an upward climb (and definitely not a straight one). Sometimes you might stumble, fall down, or need to take a break. It’s all apart of the journey! Don’t allow a misstep or pause in your path to stop your from achieving your goals, keep pushing forward and don’t forget why you started in the first place. Accomplishing your new years resolution is actually possible, we promise. Just focus!
