Our Best Tips On How To Get Your Life Together and Finding Motivation
1. Take a Step Back
Distance yourself from whatever you’re working on! In order to truly want to accomplish a task, you might need to take a step back and give yourself a break from it. Sometimes we get too close to the things we want and overwhelm ourselves with it. Yes, it’s good to have a strong driven mindset, but if you don’t allow yourself some space from your own projects, you might lose interest in them. The best way to solve this? Take a step back and let yourself breathe a little! Your drive and desire to accomplish what you originally wanted will eventually spark once again.
2. Remind Yourself Why You Started
Sometimes we lose sight of our overall goals. We get too caught up in the centre of things, that we tend to overwhelm ourselves to the point of exhaustion. Once exhausted, goals and accomplishments feel unattainable. If you’re ever in the thick of things, unsure of what’s next or how you thought you could even accomplish this in the first place, take a step back and remind yourself of why you started!
You had a goal, a plan, a purpose. You had a vision you always dreamed of reaching. Don’t forget what that goal is, what and why you wanted it in the first place. We suggest keeping some type of reminder of your end goal, whether that’s in the form of a vision board or just a journal entry (you could frame this too!), it’s highly beneficial to have your dreams solidified in writing.
3. Remove Toxicity
Your environment is the key to your success. Living in a negative space with people and objects that bring down your positivity will lead to an unhealthy life. When wanting to get your life back together, it’s important you evaluate everything around you. Sometimes it isn’t us who is preventing our dreams from becoming reality, a lot of the time it’s actually the people and energy around us. Step back and distance yourself from the things that don’t align with the life you want to live.
4. Set Goals
If you want to get your life together, then have a vision for where you want to be. Set a few goals! Have one for 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years from now. Start small, determine what you want your overall path to look like, where you want to be in 5 or 10 years and then base your entire journey off of that.
5. Reach Out For Help
Sometimes we can’t do it alone, but that’s okay. We all need help here and there, so don’t feel discouraged or embarrassed to reach out when you find yourself needing it most. Whether it’s for financial guidance, fitness or nutrition related, for your mental or physical health, or even just for someone to talk to. If you need guidance on getting your life together, then don’t hesitate to get the help you need.
6. Organize and Plan
Be organized, (trust us) it’s a must. Winging it won’t work if you’re trying to make an actual difference and change the life you’re currently living. You need to have a written out and organized plan, it’s an absolute must. We suggest investing in some agenda’s, calendars, and planners to keep yourself on track. There are even some really good apps that can help with reminders.
7. Limit Procrastination
Hell, we all procrastinate… it’s such a normal thing. Trust us when we say that procrastination is truly the worst enemy you can have when trying to motivate yourself and change your life. You need to battle that procrastination! You need to be stronger than your mind and remind yourself what you want in this life. If you allow your mind to trick you into doing other things and not accomplishing your tasks, you will never get anything done. Your life won’t change.
Your happiness and future depends on you waking up each day and crossing off everything on your checklist. If you want changes to be made, you need to push yourself to complete them. Force yourself to do all that you want to do!
8. Set Boundaries
Set yourself some boundaries, whether they’re personal, financial, or even professional. Find a life balance that works for you. Remember, everyone’s life goal is different, but we all strive for happiness. It’s important you set boundaries in every aspect in your life that you know you can abide within. Don’t make them unrealistic and unattainable.
Boundaries work in different ways, but they all allow you to protect yourself. For example, professional boundaries help you to stay equally balanced between work and your personal life, not allowing them to blend and leak into one another. This boundary will help you to maintain a good life balance and not feel overwhelmed.
9. Fill Up Your Calendar In Advance
Yes, we know this one kind of contrasts our next tip, but it makes sense, just trust us. If you find yourself often falling into a funk, restrict yourself. We sometimes find that it’s really easy to procrastinate when we don’t have much to do. An easy way to fix this? Pre-book your calendar and fill it. Figure out how many hours in a day you can stay motivated and fuelled to work on your goals and plan it out.
When we are left with no agenda and no plans, we find it SO easy to waste the day away. We feel it’s better to plan things in advance because it’s less likely we’ll cancel them when they’re set in stone.
10. Take it Easy
This one is the most important point on this list! Take it easy. Don’t be hard on yourself and don’t expect results instantly. Your life will only change if you want it to. You need to put in the work and dedicate yourself to this journey in becoming a better you. However, we find we make the most progress when we don’t limit ourselves too much. Be realistic! Find your groove, one that you can accomplish easily.
11. Eliminate Stressors
Eliminate anything that stresses you out, it’ll only benefit you in the end. We tend to take on more than we can handle and that includes taking things on we really shouldn’t. If you know you can’t handle something, don’t actually enjoy or like something, or even just feel overwhelmed, scrap it completely. Only do things you know will help you grow and become the person you want to be. Don’t waste time focusing on things that make others happy or things that “might” help you. It’s not worth it!
12. Be Kind To Yourself
There’s nothing more important than being kind to yourself. Yes, work hard, focus, drive yourself, fight for yourself, and don’t give up! But most importantly? BE. KIND. TO. YOU. If you have a bad day? Don’t get upset when you don’t get everything you needed to do done or spend the day in your bed. If you have a bad week or even month, be mindful. Remember, you’re only human! Not everyday will be perfect and go as planned like you had in your calendar.
Be mindful to your own needs. We all have days where we need a mental refresh and our goals don’t get worked towards. These days are necessary to your journey! Your mind, body, and soul need their own days off. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you veer off track for a little, it happens. Just accept it happened and pick yourself back up!
