Self-care is extremely important to your overall well-being. Reaching your full potential without implementing self-care into your daily routine is impossible. Not only is focusing on yourself good for your mental and emotional self, but it is also beneficial to your physical one as well!

Let me riddle you this, are you truly happy? Downright, happy. You go to bed with a smile on your face, happy. You wake up, excited for your day ahead, thinking of all of the good in your life, happy. No? This doesn’t feel familiar? Do you go to bed anxious, unsure of what lies ahead? Do you wake up the following morning dreading what you have to do? Forcing yourself to get up, and maybe in some cases, calling in sick because you just can’t handle what the day might entail? Or maybe you’re constantly going through the motions. Not technically sad, but not necessarily happy and present in the moment either. Finding yourself scrolling through your social media pages wishing and wanting someone else’s life. Someone else’s career, their family, their “couple goals”, their everything. You’re not unhappy with your life, but you would feel happier if you were living in their shoes instead.
Now you might not realize this, as it has become an everyday occurrence, but this is an unhealthy mindset. You are destroying your own potential, your own greatness by doing these things. You aren’t happy, not even close! This unhealthy habit is tarnishing all of the good you do have.
You deserve the world
You don’t deserve a life less than anything you envisioned. You have the power to build your future. It all starts with the here and now. Believe me, I am nowhere near where I want to be! However, I am on that path. I’m currently creating the life I want to lead, and I’m happy while doing it. A while ago, I stopped doing things based on others opinions and what they viewed as important. I steered off of the road they had suggested and recommended I should take. Instead, I started planning for the life I want to live. I created my own path, I made time to travel to new countries and stepped out of my comfort zone and met new people. I’m building a career centred around something I’m passionate about. I wake up every day, excited for what I have ahead. I focus myself on what I want to do, what I plan to achieve, and what makes me happy. Your life isn’t endless. We cannot guarantee what might occur. Whether we will be here tomorrow, or gone the following day, it is important to be grateful for what you do have in this life, and work towards what you don’t!
It’s okay to focus on YOU for once!
Self-care can remind you of who you are and what you should be grateful for. It can slow you down when you’re moving at light speed. Don’t get me wrong. I do sometimes wake up questioning if my path is the right one. You won’t be free of that doubt, not every day will be 100%. Even the most successful people in history aren’t always positive. However, I don’t let my doubt turn into fear. I don’t let it overcome the good! I refuse to let it destroy what I have built and what I believe in. You have the power to change every thought that comes through your mind, you just have to practice building yourself a positive and resilient mindset to the negativity.
I can’t tell you how to be happy! There is no direct tutorial on that. Every person is different, what makes me happy, might not make you happy, and vice versa. However, there are steps you can take to lead to a more positive life.
For me? It all starts with taking care of my body, my mind, and my soul. You need to focus on yourself before even trying to give anything to anyone else. Take a step back. Try to remember who you are and what you have to offer. Focus on you!
It all starts here.
xoxo,
just a sip of life
